Product Description
Jumilla is a Spanish Denominación de Origen (DO) that splits the regions of Castile La Mancha and the Region of Murcia not far from Alicante in the south of Spain. The region managed to escape the contamination of the phylloxera plague in the 19th century and so entered a period of economic expansion as wine merchants from France came in great numbers to buy wine.
Monastrell is a red wine grape variety that is grown in many hot and arid regions around the world including the Rhône in France, South Australia and New South Wales. A rich medium to full bodied red. Its smooth, sweet and earthy, bursting with sweet ripe black fruit, cherry, cassis and vanilla flavours. The wine is well balanced with strong tannins, soft acidity and a hint of spice thanks to the oak ageing that is common practice with top class Spanish red wine.
